The mortal remains of Indian classical vocalist Pandit Jasraj, who passed away on Monday have arrived in Mumbai on Wednesday afternoon. The veteran singer passed away due to a cardiac arrest, was stuck in the US due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.

According to a PTI copy, the family had released a statement which stated that the mortal remains of the legendary classical vocalist will be arriving on Wednesday 19th August in Mumbai. Furthermore, it even stated that the mortal remains will be kept for ‘family darshan’ post which the last rites will take place where he will be cremated with state honours.

Several Bollywood celebrities like Lata Mangeshkar, AR Rahman, Javed Akhtar and others from the fraternity mourned the loss of the legendary vocalist. Meanwhile, Pandit Jasraj’s son Shaarang Dev Pandit and daughter Durga Jasraj were also snapped outside their building. Check out their pictures here:

Meanwhile, talking about the legendary classical vocalist, his niece Shweta Pandit told ETimes, “I became a mother recently and he called me all the time, since I was in Italy, the worst-hit due to Covid. We were constantly in touch, he would see my daughter on a video call and I would even send him photos. We last spoke on August 7, just 10 days back and 10 days just fly off.”
