The boy-band, that is on their way to global domination, has been listed among the 10 Best Pop Bands of all time, alongside legendary groups like The Beatles, Queen, Supremes, Abba, Dream Girls and even Destiny’s Child.
The list was put out my American magazine Esquire that honoured the band for ‘pioneering K-Pop’s global success’. The report further went on to state that the seven-member group rapidly redefined boy bands, fandoms, and pop music itself.
BTS’s 2020 summer hit ‘Dynamite’ and ‘Life Goes On’ which topped the Billboard singles chart, were evaluated as songs that combine pop, hip-hop, disco and R &B.
Among the many reasons for the band to be included in the list, was their social commentary-based lyrics and the positive change they bring about through song. Not just that, their global fandom – “ARMY”, also received a special mention for being unlike any other fan-following seen till date.
Ahead of Hollywood’s awards season, the magazine also placed their bets on the boys becoming the first South Korean act to take home a Grammy Award. The boys are tipped to be a favourite for the upcoming award show after securing a nomination last December.
